libcfitsio2-dbg software package provides library for I/O with FITS format data files (debugging symbols), you can install in your Ubuntu 16.04 LTS (Xenial Xerus) by running the commands given below on the terminal,
$ sudo apt-get update $ sudo apt-get install libcfitsio2-dbg
libcfitsio2-dbg is installed in your system.
Make ensure the libcfitsio2-dbg package were installed using the commands given below,
$ sudo dpkg-query -l | grep libcfitsio2-dbg *
You will get with libcfitsio2-dbg package name, version, architecture and description in a table
